Getting help with your computer or mobile device just got easier. Tuff Techies now offers Remote Tech Support, giving customers another convenient way to get help without bringing a device into our shop or scheduling an in-home appointment.
With remote support, one of our Tuff Techies technicians can securely connect to your computer and help diagnose or resolve many common technology problems while you stay right at home or at your office. For certain mobile device issues, we can also provide remote guidance and support to help you work through the problem.
It’s the same local Tuff Techies team you already know, just available remotely.
What Is Remote Tech Support?
Remote tech support allows a technician to assist you through an internet connection instead of physically sitting in front of your computer.
At Tuff Techies, we’ve added remote support as another option alongside our in-shop and in-home tech support services. It isn’t intended to replace those services. Instead, it gives us another way to help depending on the type of problem you’re experiencing.
For computer support, you’ll download and run our secure remote support application and provide your Tuff Techies technician with the unique 9-digit session code displayed on your screen. This allows the technician to connect to your device for that support session.
You remain at your computer while we work, so you can see what we’re doing and communicate with your technician along the way.
What Can Tuff Techies Help With Remotely?
A surprising number of everyday computer problems don’t require a trip to the repair shop.
Remote support may be a great option for:
- Computer troubleshooting
- Software problems
- Email setup and troubleshooting
- Printer setup and troubleshooting
- Windows settings and configuration
- Program installation and setup
- Browser problems
- Pop-ups and unwanted programs
- General computer questions
- Account and login assistance
- Basic computer tune-up and optimization
- One-on-one technology help
- Guidance with phones and mobile devices
When you schedule your session, we’ll help determine whether your issue is something that can reasonably be handled remotely.
When Is Remote Support a Better Option?
Sometimes you don’t need someone to come to your house or need to leave your computer at a repair shop.
Maybe Outlook stopped working. Your printer suddenly won’t print. A program is giving you an error. You can’t find a setting. You’re having trouble navigating a website. Or perhaps you simply need someone to walk you through something.
Those are the situations where remote support can be especially convenient. Instead of disconnecting your computer and bringing it into our Prescott Valley shop, a technician may be able to connect remotely and start helping you from wherever you are.
Some Problems Still Need Hands-On Repair
Remote support is convenient, but it isn’t the right solution for every technology problem. If your computer won’t turn on, has a broken screen, needs a hardware upgrade, has a failing hard drive, requires internal repairs, or can’t reliably connect to the internet, we’ll probably need to physically work on the device.
That’s why Tuff Techies continues to offer multiple ways to get help:
- Remote Support for problems we can address from a distance.
- In-Home Tech Support when the problem involves your home, Wi-Fi network, printer, smart devices, entertainment equipment, or other technology that makes more sense to troubleshoot on-site.
- In-Shop Tech Support when you want to sit down with a technician or bring your technology to us.
- Drop-Off Repair for problems that require diagnostics, repairs, parts, or more time on the bench.
In-Home Tech Support when the problem involves your home, Wi-Fi network, printer, smart devices, entertainment equipment, or other technology that makes more sense to troubleshoot on-site.
You don’t have to figure out which option is right before contacting us. Tell us what’s going on, and we’ll help point you in the right direction.
Is Tuff Techies Remote Support Secure?
Security was an important consideration when we decided to offer remote support.
Tuff Techies uses Splashtop SOS for remote computer support. You initiate the connection by downloading and running the support application and then providing your technician with the unique 9-digit session code displayed on your device.
We will never unexpectedly connect to your computer.
You should only provide a remote support code to a Tuff Techies technician when you have contacted us or have a scheduled remote support session.
This is especially important because scammers frequently impersonate technology companies, banks, Microsoft, government agencies, and other organizations to convince people to provide remote access to their computers.
If someone unexpectedly calls, emails, texts, or displays a pop-up asking you to provide remote access to your computer, don’t do it.
If you’re ever unsure whether you’re actually communicating with Tuff Techies, call our Prescott Valley office directly at (928) 710-7632 before allowing anyone to access your device.
Local Tech Support, Even When We’re Helping Remotely
One of the biggest reasons we wanted to offer remote support was simple: convenience shouldn’t mean giving up local service.
There are plenty of large national companies offering remote computer assistance. With Tuff Techies, you’re working with a local Prescott Valley technology company that has been helping customers since 2013.
Our technicians work with customers every day on computers, phones, Wi-Fi, printers, smart-home technology, home theater systems, and other everyday electronics.
If we discover during a remote session that your problem requires hands-on attention, you also have a local shop and local technicians available to continue helping.
Remote Tech Support for Seniors
Remote support can also be particularly helpful for seniors who need occasional assistance with their computers but don’t necessarily need a service call.
Technology changes constantly. Updates move buttons around, passwords stop working, programs change, printers disconnect, and websites don’t always behave the way they did yesterday.
Sometimes you don’t need a major repair. You just need a patient technician who can see what you’re seeing and help.
Our goal isn’t to rush through the problem. We want to help you understand what’s happening and get you comfortable using your technology again.
Remote Computer Support for Local Businesses
Remote support isn’t limited to residential customers.
Small businesses often run into technology problems that need attention quickly but don’t necessarily require an on-site visit. Email problems, software issues, printer trouble, computer settings, user questions, and other everyday problems may be handled remotely.
For local businesses, that can mean less downtime and a faster way to get an employee back to work. And when the problem can’t be solved remotely, our team is already nearby.
