Great news for Tablo DVR users – the highly anticipated 4th Generation Tablo app is now available for Apple TV!
If you own a 4th Generation Tablo whole-home DVR and an Apple TV streaming device, you can download the new Tablo app right from the Apple App Store.
What’s New with the Tablo Apple TV App
The 4th Generation Tablo app for Apple TV lets you enjoy live and recorded content from over 100 channels on any compatible Apple TV device in your home. Here’s what you can expect from the app:
- Familiar Design: If you’ve used other 4th Generation Tablo apps, the interface will feel familiar.
- A home screen showcasing your favorites, recent recordings, and personalized recommendations.
- A traditional live TV grid guide to view current and upcoming shows for the next two weeks.
- Streaming-style guides to browse upcoming TV shows, movies, and sports.
- New & Enhanced Features:
- Revamped Library & Series Info: Effortlessly switch between completed recordings, scheduled programs, and upcoming airings.
- Live News Guide: A streaming-style guide specifically for live and upcoming news and newsmagazine broadcasts.
- Recording Conflict Management: Dedicated screens to identify and resolve recording conflicts and delete any failed recordings.

Compatible Apple TV Models
The 4th Generation Tablo app is compatible with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices.
To get started, simply head to the App Store from your Apple TV home screen, search for “TABLO,” and select the dark blue Tablo app (note: the orange and white app is for legacy devices). Once installed, the app will automatically connect to your Tablo DVR as long as it’s on the same network.

Top Shelf Integration
Once you’ve downloaded and connected your Tablo app, you can take advantage of Apple TV’s ‘top shelf’ feature. By moving the Tablo app into the top row of your home screen, you’ll gain quick access to popular live TV shows and recent recordings.
Important Note on Player Software
Unlike many other Apple apps, this Tablo app does not use the built-in tvOS player software. This is because Apple devices do not natively support MPEG-2 video playback. Therefore, the app uses specialized player software, which cannot distinguish between live streams and in-progress recordings (since both lack a clear start and end point). As a result, you won’t be able to start playback from the beginning for in-progress recordings.
Tablo Apps for Samsung & LG Now Available
